Onimusha: Way of the Sword — new gameplay trailer, demo available
Capcom released a gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword showing sword combat, environments and story teases ahead of the game’s Sept. 4, 2026 release; a demo is available.
Capcom released a new gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword that shows combat, environments and brief story scenes. The game will launch on September 4, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and a playable demo is available now on all platforms.
The trailer contains extended gameplay sequences that focus on sword-based combat and exploration. Footage shows close-quarters exchanges, heavier, slower strikes against supernatural enemies drawn from Japanese folklore, and quicker weapon motions for more mobile encounters. It also shows varied terrain, set-piece fights and short story-driven moments.
Capcom presents the title as a single-player action-adventure centered on a sword-wielding protagonist. The game emphasizes melee engagements rather than ranged combat or multiplayer features, with areas that range from larger battle sites to quieter exploration sections.
The demo provides access to combat encounters and several environments featured in the trailer. It is available on each platform the full game will release on and lets players test controls and combat pacing ahead of the September launch.
The Onimusha series is a long-running Capcom franchise that combines samurai action with supernatural themes. Way of the Sword is the latest mainline release following earlier entries and remasters. Capcom plans to release more information on characters, missions and gameplay systems in the weeks before the September 4 launch.
