The Palworld trading card game sold more than 3.5 million booster packs worldwide before its July 30 release. A second set, ‘Legends Awaken,’ is due Oct. 30.

Developer Pocketpair announced that pre-orders for the official Palworld trading card game exceeded 3.5 million booster packs worldwide ahead of the game’s July 30 launch. The first set will release on July 30 and a follow-up set, ‘Legends Awaken,’ is scheduled for Oct. 30.

The tabletop product is described as a two-player competitive card game in which players send out Pals with distinct characteristics to support different strategies. Players deploy structures and manage card-based resources linked to Pal abilities to win matches. The publisher framed the game around structured play and tactical matchups between two players.

Retailers and distributors moved to fill pre-orders quickly, and several outlets listed pre-order stock as sold out. Reported shortages at some retailers reflect the scale of early demand before products reach store shelves.

The card game arrives after the Palworld video game released a 1.0 update and amid rising interest in franchise merchandise. Pocketpair is currently involved in a legal dispute with Nintendo over alleged similarities to another long-running monster-collection franchise; the company has continued marketing the card game alongside the digital title.

The franchise plans multiple booster sets to support ongoing play and collecting. The publisher has not provided details on an official competitive circuit or prize support for the card game.
