Palworld 1.0 Draws 855,525 Peak Players on Steam

Pocketpair reported a Steam peak of 855,525 concurrent players after Palworld’s 1.0 launch; the update adds 72 Pals and raises the level cap to 80.

Pocketpair, the developer of Palworld, reported a peak concurrent player count of 855,525 on Steam following the game’s 1.0 launch. The studio said the figure represents a major return of players since the game’s early access period.

The 1.0 update increases the total number of Pals to 287 with 72 new additions. The patch introduces two new progression systems, Awakening and Mutations, and raises the player level cap from 65 to 80. Mutations allow newly hatched Pals to start with higher base stats and unique passive abilities, while Awakening provides ways to increase a Pal’s performance.

Pocketpair applied balance changes across the full roster, overhauled partner skills and passives, and added new animations. The update expands the story with new areas, including the floating lands of Sunreach and additional exploration around the World Tree. The studio also adjusted Wildlife Sanctuaries and other systems.

Gameplay and interface changes include new weapons, equipment and building parts, a reworked raid structure, improvements to the crafting interface, changes to how Pals behave when assigned labor tasks, and the addition of in-game voice chat. The studio reported broad visual polish across environments and characters.

Pocketpair did not increase Palworld’s price for the 1.0 release. A launch discount reduced the price by 30 percent through Thursday, July 23, to $20.99 / £17.49.

Palworld’s 855,525 peak is lower than the game’s early access high of about 2.1 million concurrent players, but it places the title among a small group that have reached comparable peaks on Steam. The developer noted sustained player engagement since the game’s initial release two and a half years ago.

Legal action from Nintendo against Pocketpair remains active, with presentation of evidence expected in October. In response to legal concerns, Pocketpair adjusted features such as Pal Spheres and the ability to ride some companions through the sky and implemented slight visual redesigns to several creatures. The update also introduced new designs, including a Pal named Hoodle.

Community Manager John “Bucky” Buckley wrote on social media, “I promise I’ll try not to just be posting Steam numbers every day, but… really, thank you so much, gamers.” He added that the team had been hopeful for 1.0 internally and called the response “staggering.”

Pocketpair posted that it will continue to support Palworld with further updates, citing the scale of the 1.0 patch and player feedback as drivers for ongoing development.
