Pokémon Unite to shut down after final 2027 tournament
Pokémon Unite will end service on March 23, 2027, two days after the Aeos Crown 2027 finals in Tokyo.
Pokémon Unite will close on mobile devices and Nintendo Switch on March 23, 2027. The Aeos Crown 2027 finals are scheduled for March 21 in Tokyo, making the event the game’s final major tournament.
The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group announced the closure as the game enters its final months. The team that wins the Tokyo finals will keep the Aeos Crown title permanently because the game’s servers will close two days later.
Pokémon Unite will not be included in the 2027 Pokémon Championship Series or the 2027 World Championships. Its last World Championships appearance was in San Francisco in August. The Tokyo finals were organized as a separate closing event.
The game’s systems have been winding down since late 2025. Aeos coins stopped being distributed in December 2025. License Journeys replaced them, and the coin exchange ended by May 2026.
Gem sales have stopped, along with new Unite Club memberships and automatic renewals. Players can spend their existing gems, while current Unite Club members will keep their benefits until their membership periods end.
A farewell update scheduled for Nov. 12 will provide free Unite licenses and Holowear from across the game’s history. It will add an archive containing selected records and in-game content. Players must download the required data before the service ends to use the archive after the shutdown.
Pokémon Unite launched in 2021 for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The game will remain available until its servers go offline on March 23, 2027.
