Rust Mobile’s second closed beta adds more gear

Rust Mobile will run a second closed beta in August with new equipment, lighter gameplay options, player-friendly systems and expanded language support.

Rust Mobile will enter a second closed beta in August that expands in-game equipment, introduces lighter gameplay options and adds new player-friendly systems, while increasing language support for a wider audience.

Level Infinite is developing the beta under license from Facepunch. The test will build on content from the first closed beta. Exact dates and regional availability have not been announced. Participation will remain limited to closed beta sign-ups rather than opening to the general public.

Level Infinite described the planned features using the terms “lighter gameplay options” and “new player-friendly systems” and said the trial will include a wider variety of equipment for players to test. Core survival mechanics from the original PC title-base building, resource gathering and player-versus-player raids-remain part of the mobile beta.

The mobile build is intended to keep Rust’s persistent world intact. Servers run continuously and allow raids on player bases at any time; the mobile version aims to let players log in from phones to respond to attacks or manage bases outside of desktop play.

Interest in the mobile adaptation has been strong. Rust Mobile has more than three million pre-registrations. Level Infinite plans to use feedback from the second closed beta to refine gameplay balance, performance and localization ahead of a wider rollout.

Details on specific equipment types, the exact nature of the lighter gameplay options, supported regions and how testers will be selected have not been provided. Level Infinite indicated further announcements will follow with detailed beta schedules and enrolment information.
