Terraria 1.4.5.7 to rebalance yoyos and weapon classes

Re-Logic will add yoyo upgrades and broad weapon-class balance changes in patch 1.4.5.7 to address uneven progression and make more yoyo types distinct.

Re-Logic plans to include yoyo upgrades and broad balance changes in the upcoming 1.4.5.7 patch for Terraria. The update is part of a large hotfix effort that will adjust whole weapon classes rather than isolated items.

In a June 2026 State of the Game update, Head of Business Strategy Ted “Loki” Murphy described the patch as a substantial, multi-topic hotfix tied to the Bigger and Boulder update. Murphy wrote the team is “very ready to get what we hope will be the last (or darn close to it) hotfix update for Bigger and Boulder into your hands” and noted the studio has spent extra time resolving outstanding issues since the early March release of 1.4.5.6.

The balancing work will examine entire classes of weapons to ensure items feel relevant and engaging. Yoyos received specific attention after sustained player feedback about uneven upgrade pacing and limited incentives to switch between types. Murphy acknowledged the feedback and said the studio had decided to act on it: “We’ve seen this feedback before and have decided to go ahead and finally take action on it.”

Players have reported that yoyo progression can be uneven, with some upgrades appearing quickly while others require rare drops or detours from the normal path. In hardmode, several higher-tier yoyos become available early, then few meaningful upgrades appear until the final boss. Re-Logic plans to adjust how yoyo effects compare and to smooth progression so players do not rely on extreme luck to advance.

Developers are testing changes intended to make switching between yoyo types worthwhile by giving certain items more distinct effects and rebalancing drop rates and progression paths. Murphy added the team is “looking into making some yoyos more interesting/unique.”

Internal builds also include a small ice-themed projectile that could alter how some weapon types feel, though the studio has not confirmed its final form. After 1.4.5.7 ships, Re-Logic intends to finalize an internal roadmap and move into work connected to a planned crossplay rollout. The studio said the crossplay rollout plan exists and will be deployed after the hotfix, but provided no firm date: “As for what the plan might entail? Well, you will have to wait and see there,” Murphy wrote.

Re-Logic said it will publish detailed patch notes and testing windows as the team moves toward release.
