The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past announced with free remaster

CD Projekt announced The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past at Gamescom 2026 and a free Witcher 3 Remastered update for existing owners on September 29, 2026.
CD Projekt revealed The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The developer premiered a CGI trailer that presents an original story and links The Witcher 3’s narrative to the upcoming The Witcher 4.
Doug Cockle returns as the voice of Geralt of Rivia. CD Projekt said the expansion follows Geralt roughly ten years after the Blood and Wine expansion.
A playable build of Songs of the Past is available on the Gamescom show floor, giving attendees an early look at new gameplay and story content.
CD Projekt will publish The Witcher 3 Remastered as a free update for existing owners on September 29, 2026. The company described the remaster as including upgrades and enhancements to refresh the base game for current platforms ahead of the expansion’s release later in the year.
CD Projekt first informed staff of the expansion’s development last year, and lead game designer Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed the project publicly before the Gamescom reveal. The company has not released full platform or pricing details for Songs of the Past; further information is expected in the coming months.
