CD Projekt Red will debut a trailer for The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past during Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live at gamescom in August 2026. The expansion, developed with Fool’s Theory, returns players to the role of Geralt of Rivia and is scheduled to launch in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
The studio has not specified which elements it will show at Opening Night Live. The appearance is the first major public update since the expansion was announced.
Attendees at gamescom can view guided, hands-off presentations of Songs of the Past at CD Projekt Red’s booths on the show floor. Presentations in the business area will run at booth B065 in Hall 4.2 from August 26 to 28. Sessions in the entertainment area will take place at booths B030 and A031 in Hall 8.1 from August 26 to 30. CD Projekt Red has confirmed these are demonstrations rather than playable demos, so visitors should expect a curated walkthrough rather than hands-on time.
CD Projekt Red and development partner Fool’s Theory have not released further specifics about narrative scope, new mechanics or technical changes for the expansion. No release date beyond the 2027 window has been provided.
The Witcher 3 originally launched in 2015. CD Projekt Red’s presentation at gamescom will offer the public’s first extended look at Songs of the Past.
As reported previously, Amazon MGM Studios and Activision are developing a live-action Call of Duty feature film set in the rebooted Modern Warfare universe
