First-person soulslike Valor Mortis to launch Oct. 13, 2026

One More Level says Valor Mortis uses a first-person view to combine soulslike stamina and bonfire systems with parkour, dual-wielding and superpowers. It launches Oct. 13, 2026.

One More Level announced that Valor Mortis will launch on PC and consoles on Oct. 13, 2026, after the studio moved the release from an earlier September date. The developer says the game uses a first-person perspective to combine stamina management and bonfire-style checkpoints with parkour, dual-wielding, firearms and supernatural powers.

The studio cited its work on Ghostrunner as the basis for the perspective change. Game Director Radosław Ratusznik said, “The decision was pretty easy for us because we made both Ghostrunners, and we want to get better and better at creating first-person action games.” He added that the team refined which genre features to keep and which to adapt for a first-person experience.

Core systems include stamina meters and checkpointed respawn points familiar to soulslikes, paired with faster movement mechanics such as wall-running. Combat will allow melee and ranged options, weapon swapping, dual-wielding and the use of superpowers, offering multiple approaches to encounters according to the developer.

Valor Mortis is set in a version of 1800s France marked by red magic, pervasive smog and wartime violence. Public demonstrations at Gamescom and Summer Game Fest highlighted the game’s visual design and the interaction between movement and combat; a journalist ranked it among the top three games at Gamescom, and another reported a strong impression after playing the Summer Game Fest build.

One More Level said the date shift was made to avoid a crowded September release slate that includes several major launches. The studio has stated it kept the core mechanics associated with soulslikes while changing the viewpoint to first-person to expand movement and combat options.
