World of Warcraft Forever: Classic-Plus Edition, Beta Sept. 17

Blizzard revealed World of Warcraft Forever at BlizzCon 2026. A public beta starts Sept. 17 and the game launches Nov. 4; the level cap remains at 60.
Blizzard debuted World of Warcraft Forever on stage at BlizzCon 2026. The company presented the project as a ‘Classic Plus’ reinvention of WoW Classic, with a public beta beginning Sept. 17 and a full launch scheduled for Nov. 4. Blizzard confirmed the level cap will remain at 60 indefinitely.
Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Executive Producer Holly Longdale led the reveal. They said Forever aims to combine the feel of launch-day World of Warcraft with more than two decades of technical and design changes. Longdale stated the new storyline follows the events of Warcraft III: Forsaken Kingdom and acts as a continuation of vanilla WoW’s first year.
Hazzikostas declined to outline the next full expansion, The Last Titan, because of spoilers tied to the current Midnight Eclipse arc and said additional details will arrive after the Eclipse resolves early next year. Blizzard confirmed The Last Titan is expected in 2027 and also announced a Warcraft III Reforged expansion called Forsaken Kingdom.
Blizzard listed content additions including more than 1,000 new quests, new items and rewards, expanded profession content, and new reputation systems. The update introduces fresh skills and talent trees, new dungeons and raids built for 10- and 20-player groups, and new race and class combinations such as Skyborne. Account-wide perks are planned and an optional Hardcore mode will be available.
The update includes a visual overhaul and an option to toggle character models between simplified and high-definition versions. Longdale described Forever as ‘your new permanent home’ and said the team prioritized exploration and community over a tightly scripted hero narrative.
Attendees at BlizzCon could try demos of Forever at the show. The public beta begins Sept. 17 and full launch is set for Nov. 4. Blizzard characterized Forever as an option for players who want a classic-era experience updated with modern systems while keeping core progression and the original level cap.
