Barda: Backpack Roguelike lets players climb a randomized mountain

Barda: Backpack Roguelike is available on iOS and Android. Players climb a randomized mountain using items from a limited backpack while managing hunger, fatigue and madness.

Barda: Backpack Roguelike is available now on iOS and Android as a premium mobile game priced at $4.99.

Players begin runs on a randomized mountain made up of a chain of nodes. Each node presents a specific challenge or encounter that must be resolved by applying items from the player’s backpack. Players drag and drop items from inventory onto nodes; lacking an appropriate item forces them to rely on bare hands or improvised solutions.

Each ascent is randomized, so routes and node types differ between runs. The game mixes inventory-based problem solving with roguelike randomness and is designed for short, repeatable climbs.

Playable avian characters have three condition meters: hunger, fatigue and madness. Those meters rise or fall based on actions taken during a run, and shifts in those stats can change which items remain usable or how effective they are. Resource decisions affect immediate encounters and the backpack’s longer-term condition.

The mountain contains multiple biomes, including green lowlands, frosty peaks, volcanic zones and runic areas cloaked in fog. Biomes change the types of challenges players encounter.

The game uses a painterly visual style and a relaxed soundtrack.

Barda follows a recent mobile trend that centers gameplay on inventory management and item-based problem solving, emphasizing tactical use of a finite backpack during randomized runs.

Barda is available on the App Store and Google Play for $4.99 or the local equivalent.
