Beast of Reincarnation gameplay highlights parry combat

Game Freak released a gameplay overview showing Beast of Reincarnation’s parry-focused combat, FP meter for Bloom Arts, enemy down gauges and dog companion Koo ahead of its August 4 release.

Game Freak released a combat overview for Beast of Reincarnation that walks through encounters from small fights to boss battles. The footage was published ahead of the game’s August 4 launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

The developer outlined core mechanics: enemies display a health bar and a separate down gauge. The down gauge fills as players pressure foes; when filled it allows a staggered finishing strike that can end an enemy in a single hit.

Parrying is a major input. Timed deflections prevent damage and refill an on-screen FP gauge. Filling the FP gauge lets players trigger a Bloom Art, a special attack that reduces an enemy’s stun or down gauge and sets up a one-hit takedown.

The overview shows parries restoring FP, linking defensive timing to resource management. Combat footage includes rapid, weighty animations and tight timing requirements; enemies attack aggressively and stagger windows can be brief.

Koo, the protagonist Emma’s dog, is integrated into combat. The footage demonstrates coordinated sequences where one character initiates and the other finishes. Abilities such as Higanbana: Roots can pin up to three enemies and create openings for Koo’s attacks. The pair are shown engaging both small groups and larger encounters.

Boss fights follow the same parry and stagger rhythm seen in regular encounters. The preview contains at least one towering boss whose heavy strikes can be deflected with precise timing. The overview does not specify how many bosses across the game will be parryable.

Beast of Reincarnation is an action role-playing game that pairs protagonist Emma with Koo. Its systems combine health and down gauges, an FP-driven special attack system, and companion-based tactics. The game releases on August 4 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
