Game of Thrones: War for Westeros delayed to early 2027
PlaySide delayed Game of Thrones: War for Westeros from 2026 to early 2027 to allow more time to refine gameplay, unit responsiveness, pathfinding and squad behavior.
Developer PlaySide has pushed the PC strategy title Game of Thrones: War for Westeros from a 2026 release window to early 2027. The studio said the extra months will be used to refine gameplay systems and improve how units respond and move in large battles.
The delay was announced alongside new details about playable factions, heroes and multiplayer maps. Confirmed factions include House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen and the Night King’s Army of the Dead. Each faction will offer distinct playstyles and heroes that influence engagements.
PlaySide described hero roles with examples: Jon Snow will boost nearby allies while leading charges, and Tywin Lannister will demand careful positioning and tactical planning from the player.
Combat is designed around squad-based command rather than micromanaging individual soldiers. Squads will operate with a degree of autonomy while following player orders. The developer is still adjusting unit responsiveness, pathfinding and squad behaviors to improve the flow of large-scale fights and reduce the need to issue single-unit commands.
Multiplayer maps will use locations from the television series. King’s Landing and The Wall are confirmed, and PlaySide highlighted Ashemark as a 1v1 battleground set in the Westerlands and tied to Robb Stark’s campaign during the War of the Five Kings. Each map is planned with unique terrain and objectives that affect large battles and area control.
PlaySide wrote in its announcement, “The team wants to take the time to deliver a product that meets our quality standards. We’ve made the decision to delay Game of Thrones: War for Westeros to ensure we have the time we need to polish and get everything just right.”
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros remains in development for PC with the revised launch window set for early 2027.
