Midnight Study is a roguelike deckbuilder set in Yongcheon Girls High School. Players take control of one of four students after an inadvertent summoning unleashes hostile spirits, and must fight through the school to survive and escape.
Combat uses a ricochet system: projectiles bounce off walls to hit enemies and to collect power-ups placed around classrooms and corridors. Power-ups can restore health or enhance offensive abilities, and players must aim shots to damage foes while retrieving upgrades.
The game combines procedurally generated runs with card-based progression. Players build decks and equip items during each run. The title includes 100 forbidden talismans and more than 80 relics that alter abilities and modify playstyles. In-run choices affect the course of a run, and small minigames provide opportunities to obtain additional relics for a character’s equipment.
Four playable students offer different starting tools and synergies, encouraging varied tactical approaches. Progression follows a typical roguelike loop: builds evolve across encounters, and failure resets a run while leaving players to try new combinations and strategies in subsequent attempts.
A trailer has been released showing gameplay and the ricochet combat in action. The publisher has scheduled the game for release in November; platform and pricing details have not been announced.
The game uses a maze-like school layout and randomized runs alongside a large item pool to produce varied playthroughs and support replayability.
