StarCraft II Patch Cuts Terran Command Center Cost
Blizzard reduced the Terran Command Center cost from 400 to 300 minerals, adjusted Protoss and Terran units, and temporarily disabled the ‘load nearby units’ transport command.
Blizzard released a StarCraft II patch that reduces the Terran Command Center cost from 400 to 300 minerals, adjusts several Protoss and Terran units, and temporarily disables the “load nearby units” transport command while fixes are tested.
The Command Center now costs 300 minerals instead of 400 and provides 15 supply. For comparison, the Protoss Nexus remains at 400 minerals and the Zerg Hatchery is 300 minerals but requires a Drone and available larva to produce. To limit aggressive use of fortified bases, the Planetary Fortress upgrade price increased from 150 minerals and 150 gas to 250 minerals and 150 gas. The Orbital Command upgrade cost is unchanged.
Other Terran changes include a supply cost reduction for Ghosts from three to two. Blizzard has adjusted Ghost supply in recent updates. The patch follows a major balance cycle earlier this year and a round of tweaks in June, and arrives about two months after the game’s starting worker count was lowered from 12 to eight.
Protoss adjustments change several unit behaviors and timings. Colossi base attack was raised to 12 with a +3 bonus vs Light units, replacing the previous 10 base with +5 vs Light. Adept attack upgrades now grant twice the previous benefit per upgrade. After researching Warpgate technology, Gateways train units 50% faster (up from 40%), and the Warpgate-to-Gateway transformation time is standardized at four seconds in both directions. When selecting buildings of a single type, Warpgates and Gateways are treated separately and Warpgates take priority if both are included. The Disruptor’s phantom-weapon range has been reduced to keep the unit closer to its formation during move-and-attack commands.
Blizzard disabled the “load nearby units” transport command after players found transports could pick up units that should not embark, such as Siege Tanks in Siege Mode and burrowed Widow Mines. The studio plans to reintroduce the feature after addressing the issue.
Blizzard described the update as “calibrating both Protoss and Terran to help deal with Zerg.” The studio added it will monitor multiplayer matches and further adjust balance as players adapt to the new costs and unit behaviors.
