1666: Amsterdam reveals two playable protagonists

Panache Digital Games published a new gameplay trailer for 1666: Amsterdam on July 29, 2026, introducing the game’s two lead characters and showing scenes across historical Amsterdam.

The trailer presents Noa, described as a 16th-century Zaindari whose role is to hunt mythical creatures called Originals. Aaron appears as a man transported roughly 300 years into the past who now occupies the body of a cat. The footage shows the pair working together to investigate events that affect the city.

Gameplay sequences depict the characters using different abilities to progress. Noa performs actions tied to her Zaindari bloodline and uses several magical tools. Aaron’s feline form provides access to small spaces, alternative routes and sensory cues that Noa cannot reach. Several puzzle segments require the two perspectives to unlock new areas or information.

The developer framed the trailer around narrative, historical detail and supernatural elements rather than extended combat. Scenes emphasize exploration, environmental puzzles and stealth-style moments, with examples of how Noa’s powers interact with artifacts and how Aaron finds concealed clues.

The project is led by Patrice Désilets, known for his work on the original Assassin’s Creed trilogy. Panache presented the footage as an early look toward launch and has not released a full list of Noa’s abilities or confirmed a release date. The studio said further gameplay and technical details will be provided in later updates.
