Battlefield 6 mistakenly announced XP booster change
An in-game message on June 30 claimed XP Boosters would count down only during matches. DICE removed the message and confirmed no change to booster timers.
On June 30, Battlefield 6 displayed an in-game message saying XP Boosters would “count down based on in-game time instead of real time.” The notice suggested booster timers would pause while players were in menus or lobbies.
The message drew positive reaction from players, who welcomed the change for progression. After players tested the feature and observed booster timers still decreasing while in menus, the Battlefield Comms account on X posted that both the in-game message and an updated description had been pushed by mistake. The account removed the message and wrote, “there are no changes to how XP Boosters currently work.” It added that player feedback would be forwarded to development teams.
XP Boosters provide double experience points for a set duration. Under current behavior, the booster timer runs in real time, so time spent in matchmaking queues, menus or between matches counts against the remaining boosted time even when no XP is being earned in an active match.
Players who want timers to count only during matches can continue to submit feedback through official channels and community forums. DICE did not provide a timeline for any future update to booster mechanics.
