Beat Hazard Arcade launched on iOS and Android, bringing Cold Beam’s music-driven twin-stick shooter to mobile. The release includes an installed soundtrack of more than three hours composed by electronic producer Johnny Frizz.

The game maps audio to gameplay: music controls weapons, enemy waves and on-screen visual intensity. The Arcade edition adapts that core mechanic for touchscreens and ships with the included soundtrack rather than relying on files stored on the device.

The original Beat Hazard was released in 2010 and used players’ own music libraries to shape gameplay. The mobile edition includes built-in tracks because most phone users now rely on streaming services instead of local music files.

Cold Beam wrote that the included tracks were produced to sync with gameplay and to influence enemy spawns, weapon behavior and visual effects. The developer created the music specifically for those systems.

Controls use dynamic analogue sticks that let players position their thumbs for movement and firing. Gameplay centers on staying mobile, dodging and collecting score multipliers to extend runs and increase high scores.

Songs in the soundtrack are relatively short, and runs commonly end with players restarting tracks to improve scores. The game retains the series’ arcade-style scoring and replay loop.

Beat Hazard Arcade includes cross-platform leaderboards that extend to PS5. A single one-time purchase unlocks Boss Rush and Survival modes, six additional weapons and a ship overdrive. The game does not use subscriptions, energy meters or loot boxes.

Beat Hazard Arcade is available now on iOS and Android.
