Guns & Dragons mixes guns and magic in roguelite demo

Guns & Dragons combines FPS gunplay, magical weapon upgrades and roguelite runs. A Steam playtest runs July 30–Aug 10; the game is in PC early access on Steam and Epic.

ABUTTON Inc.’s Guns & Dragons is a first-person shooter that combines firearms and bows with magical upgrades and roguelite progression. A Steam playtest runs July 30–August 10. The game is available in early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Players enter monster-filled caverns, dungeons and villages wielding basic guns and bows. During each run they collect runes, artifacts and other upgrades that change how weapons behave. Weapons do not keep their upgraded forms between runs; players start each attempt with standard equipment and modify it as they progress.

The core loop centers on on-the-fly weapon crafting. Runes and artifacts can be slotted or attached to guns to alter firing behavior, effects and synergies with player abilities. The design supports short, repeatable runs where experimentation with combinations replaces fixed loadouts.

Guns & Dragons supports solo play and up to four-player cooperative sessions. The game emphasizes testing combinations of weapons and fantasy powers in combat encounters that are fast-paced and presented with a lighthearted art style.

Between runs players can invest in a home base and unlock new options that affect future attempts. Enemy difficulty scales as players advance, and boss fights serve as checkpoints for measuring the strength of a run’s custom weapons and builds.

A recent gameplay trailer demonstrates exploration, combat and the weapon-crafting systems. ABUTTON has scheduled the July 30–August 10 Steam playtest to gather player feedback on the core gameplay loop ahead of further development.

Guns & Dragons combines procedural level elements with persistent upgrades to create a cycle of short runs and longer-term progression. The combination of temporary, in-run power growth and incremental unlocks follows a pattern used by other recent action titles that pair replayable combat loops with persistent progression.
