Teamfight Tactics pauses macOS support after Patch 18.1
Teamfight Tactics will suspend macOS support after patch 18.1 and drop support for some older mobile devices. Riot Games says accounts and purchases will not be affected.
Riot Games will suspend macOS support for Teamfight Tactics after patch 18.1 and will also end support for some older iOS and Android devices with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The developer announced the change on the game’s official X account and in a support FAQ.
The interruption is tied to a technical transition in how the game uses Unreal Engine. In its announcement the studio wrote that the engine swap “allows for more dedicated tools and tech on Teamfight Tactics’ side,” and added the change means macOS and some lower-memory mobile devices will not be supported immediately after patch 18.1. The company said it is “working to support the OS in a future update.”
Riot advised that player accounts, in-game purchases and earned content will not be affected by the temporary suspension on macOS. Players who cannot access the game on any of their devices are instructed to contact Player Support. The FAQ noted that preferred settings will reset with the engine swap and must be reapplied in-game.
The update will raise minimum PC requirements. Going forward, the game will require Windows 10 version 19041 or higher, DirectX 11 (Feature Level 4.3) and Shader Model 5. Riot set an initial rollout date for the new PC build on Friday, October 9. The developer warned that overall download and patch expectations should remain similar, but that the initial patch for Set 18 will be larger than usual.
To gather feedback and identify issues before broad deployment, Riot will open two Public Beta Environments. The first PBE for Set 18 begins Tuesday, July 14 and will run for four weeks. A second PBE focused on the PC client starts Wednesday, September 9. Both windows are intended for players to report bugs and provide feedback.
Riot described the changes as part of longer-term technical work rather than a permanent platform exit and did not provide a firm timeline for when full, stable macOS support will return beyond the planned test windows and future updates.
