Candy Cabs offer free NYC rides if riders finish a level

Candy Crush launched Candy Cabs in Manhattan on June 30; riders who scan a QR code, reserve a slot and complete a Candy Crush level before the trip ends get a free ride.

Candy Crush Saga ran a branded “Candy Cabs” promotion in Manhattan on June 30 that offered free taxi rides to passengers who reserved a slot via QR code and completed a Candy Crush level before the trip ended.

Passengers booked by scanning QR codes displayed on promotional posters or on the cabs, then played a level of Candy Crush Saga during the journey. If they finished the level before the taxi reached its drop-off point, the fare was waived.

The service operated on a limited route between Cooper Classic Cars in Greenwich Village and one of two drop-off points: Hudson Yards Public Squares & Gardens and Hair of the Dog at 168 Orchard Street.

The event took place on June 30 to coincide with a public viewing of the France vs Sweden World Cup match in New York. Organizers described the route as short and focused on a promotional area rather than covering the city.

The campaign formed part of the Candy Crush Soccer Season tournament and linked to other football-themed events held around the World Cup. Candy Crush branding appeared on the taxis and on nearby posters used to direct passengers to the booking QR codes.

Organizers presented Candy Cabs as a temporary, experiential promotion connected to the game’s World Cup activities rather than a regular transportation service. The limited service window and confined route restricted trips to short, targeted journeys within Manhattan.

Candy Crush Saga has previously staged themed promotions tied to sporting events and tournaments; Candy Cabs combined an on-the-ground activation with an in-app challenge tied to the Soccer Season tournament.
