Hold the Tile is a low-poly medieval 1v1 real-time strategy game that launched on iOS and Android. Matches take place on maps divided into regions that remain hidden by fog of war until scouted, and scouting reveals resources, enemy bases and barbarian camps. Clearing those camps grants rare resources.
Players begin each match by choosing one of three General classes: Warrior, Builder or Mage. Between matches they earn skill points to allocate in RPG-style talent trees. Talent points can be reset at any time to allow different builds.
Units include spearmen, archers, orcs and mages. Units are grouped into squads that can be moved manually or set to auto-battle for frontline engagements. Players earn in-match currency that can be spent on permanent upgrades for units and structures.
Base management requires collecting wood, iron and gold to construct walls, towers and bridges and to defend against raids. Clearing neutral camps on the map provides access to higher-tier resources.
Magic effects include fireballs, summoned living trees and slowing spells. The strength of those spells scales with the amount of territory a player controls, so capturing more regions increases spell potency.
The game uses a low-poly visual style and is built for short 1v1 encounters on mobile devices. Hold the Tile is available now on iOS and Android.
