Inzoi tests Canvastown, an optional social MMO mode

Inzoi is testing Canvastown, a separate social MMO mode where players control one Zoi, meet up to 50 people in hub areas, visit homes and play creator-made minigames.

Inzoi Studio is running public tests of Canvastown, an optional social MMO mode that places players into a shared world as a single controllable character called a Zoi. The mode supports hub spaces with up to 50 people, personal homes that others can visit, and minigames created by the community.

Game Director Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim described Canvastown as an independent way to play Inzoi and emphasized it will appear as a separate menu option. Players begin by creating a custom Zoi and designing a house. From the AR Company hub, users can interact with roughly 50 others in a single channel and use a control tablet to teleport into other players’ homes to explore or socialize.

The mode includes non-player characters and creator-made activities. Demonstrations showed kart-style racing and obstacle-course challenges. Kim noted creators can use Inzoi’s native building tools and the studio’s modding support to design and share new experiences.

Studio developers are keeping the initial feature set limited. Kim warned that large-scale building functions circulating online, such as placing roads or constructing entire cities from scratch, are not available in the current build. He framed Canvastown as a side project while the team continues work on the main life simulation.

Private sessions and friend invites will be possible. The 50-player cap in public channels is intended to limit chaotic interactions. Kim admitted the mode is incomplete: “Looking at the current build makes me sigh,” and said the team will use player feedback from the showcase to decide future changes.

Updates to Inzoi’s core simulation continue. A recent patch improved autonomous behavior and the modeling of needs and wants, and added social actions like Zois sitting and eating together. The next major update, scheduled for October, will let creators define specific behaviors for usable objects in build mode. The studio is also reworking resident family designs and adding an option to start on run-down lots.
