Modder Brings GTA 6 Wanted System to GTA V
An independent modder recreated Grand Theft Auto 6’s tiered wanted system inside Grand Theft Auto V, adding escalation, coordinated police tactics and configurable settings for PC single-player.
An independent modder has recreated Grand Theft Auto 6’s tiered wanted system inside Grand Theft Auto V and released it for PC single-player. The modification changes how in-game police react to crimes by escalating response levels and altering officer behavior during chases.
The mod adjusts detection range, pursuit persistence and how pursuing officers coordinate. Higher-level offenses prompt faster, more coordinated responses and additional tactics, while lower-level infractions produce a reduced police presence. The changes are drawn from descriptions and previews of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Technically, the mod alters AI routines and game scripts that control nonplayer character reactions. It replaces or augments default policing scripts to add a clearer escalation structure, and uses common modding frameworks and scripting hooks so it can run without rewriting core game files.
The creator posted the mod to standard single-player mod repositories and included installation instructions. Users need the PC version of GTA V and the usual modding prerequisites that allow custom scripts to run. The release includes configuration options so players can change how aggressive the new wanted mechanics are.
The modder added safeguards and adjustable settings to reduce conflicts with other modifications and to limit performance impact. The modification is intended for offline single-player use and does not alter official multiplayer servers or online services.
GTA V has supported an active single-player modding community for years, with creators producing scripts, visual overhauls and gameplay changes. This project adapts a system described for the upcoming title to the older game engine, allowing players to test those mechanics ahead of the new release.
