Netmarble launches RF Online Next with 450-player Mining Wars
Netmarble released RF Online Next, an Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG for mobile and PC featuring 450-player Mining Wars, controllable mechs, three Sacred Weapons and switchable biosuits.
Netmarble has launched RF Online Next, an Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG now available on mobile and PC. The release updates the RF Online franchise, which first appeared in 2004, for modern platforms while keeping large-scale faction warfare and resource-driven conflict.
The game centers on Mining Wars that can include up to 450 players competing for scarce resources on the planet Novus, including the contested Holy Stones. Three factions fight for control of those resources, and winning guilds receive exclusive rewards tied to server- and world-level market taxes.
RF Online Next introduces three large-scale Sacred Weapons, branded Ultimate Gears. Players can board and directly pilot the MAU (Mechanic Armor Unit), deploy a stationary Launcher that automatically targets enemies, or summon the Animus, a temporary bio-weapon that delivers a powerful one-time effect before disappearing.
Combat uses a range of role-specific biosuits with distinct skills. Available suits include the Punisher, Phantom, Enforcer, Psypher, Dreadnought, Technician, Arbiter and Demolisher. Players can switch biosuits during engagements to change from ranged to close-quarters roles or from offensive to support functions as the situation requires.
The game offers both player-versus-player and player-versus-environment content. Raid dungeons and World Boss encounters provide cooperative challenges. The Babylon Occupation Battle lets teams use player-controlled mechs in contested objectives. The Arcane Trials test team coordination, and server-wide clashes such as the Siege War at Albern Fortress stage large-scale competition for territory.
RF Online Next includes an open in-game economy with a free-market pricing system. Resource prices can fluctuate based on player activity, and market taxes collected at server and world levels reward victorious factions. The system links resource gathering and territorial control to short-term rewards and longer-term market outcomes driven by players.
The original RF Online launched in 2004 and the series has attracted roughly 20 million players globally. Netmarble’s new entry maintains the franchise’s core mechanics-faction wars, vehicle and mech combat, and a player-driven economy-while delivering them in a modern engine and across mobile and PC platforms.
