Otterly Lost Steam demo delivers sub-aquatic exploration
Soulworks Interactive has released a Steam demo of Otterly Lost, a sub‑aquatic open‑world game. The full title is scheduled to launch in September.
Developer Soulworks Interactive has released a playable demo of Otterly Lost on Steam ahead of a planned September launch. The demo presents a small open‑world made up of islands and underwater areas. Players control Otto, an otter who wakes far from home and must collect items, learn skills and build relationships to progress.
NPCs in the demo trade items, teach abilities and give quests. The game uses clam shells as its primary currency, which players earn through tasks and trading. Early interactions include a crab that provides a spade for digging and a fisherfrog that trades worms for cosmetics and shells. One starter quest asks Otto to prepare a salad for a giant turtle, which advances the opening story.
The playable area emphasizes both surface and underwater exploration. Players can drift on the water, dive for objects and gather small curios such as rocks and wearable accessories. Cosmetic items visible in the demo include a sailor hat and a dolphin fin that can be equipped on Otto’s back.
Movement begins with swimming and hopping. Otto has limited breath and a stamina meter that can be increased by finding specific items. A sprint or boost is available via a control input. Environmental features such as bouncy mushrooms and underwater jet streams provide vertical movement. Nonplayer characters point to further ways to reach higher terrain, including a goat near a climbing wall.
Playtime for the demo can exceed an hour for players who explore thoroughly, with additional collectibles and outfits appearing after extended play. Soulworks Interactive describes Otterly Lost as an open‑world indie project that emphasizes relaxed exploration. The demo is available now on Steam ahead of the game’s scheduled September release.
